Cortney and Andrew

Cortney and Andrew fell in love with each other and Cambridge and who could blame them?

Tell us about your love story! How did you meet? How did he propose? All the good stuff! We met when we both worked in the State Capitol. In 2019 we stumbled upon the Cambridge Winery and saw the apartments next door. We moved to an apartment at the Vineyards in Cambridge in 2020. We fell in love with Cambridge and bought our first house in Cambridge in 2021. Andrew proposed in September 2021 at Drumlin Ridge Winery (one of our favorite things to do together is go to local wineries). Our dog, a golden retriever named Wrigley, is our whole world and was with us for the proposal and our wedding. At the wedding, he came running down the aisle to us as soon as we were pronounced husband and wife.

Tell us about your ceremony.

We got married at Cambridge Winery. Our ceremony was at the gazebo in the Vineyard and our reception was inside the winery. It was so special to us to get married at the place where so much of our story began. In the background of our ceremony pictures you can see the apartments where we first lived together. It was very important to us that we get married in Cambridge, because we love this town so much and have made it our home. We loved being able to show our family and friends the place we call home.

What is one thing you wish you knew when planning your wedding?

I wish I knew just how time-consuming it would be and how far in advance you need to book vendors. Especially with all of the weddings that were postponed because of COVID, vendors are booked out super far. It's best to start the planning process as soon as you can.

What advice would you give brides?

Make the day yours. So many people have opinions on how they think your wedding should look, but at the end of the day, it's your wedding and it should reflect you and your soon-to-be spouse. For example, everyone told us that it's traditional to have cake at your wedding, but we didn't want cake. Instead, we got pie from Norske Nook and I'm so glad we did because it was much more "us".

What was your experience like at Premiere Couture?

My experience at Premiere Couture was wonderful. Everyone was so kind and made my experience so special. My stylist had my now husband and my godmother film a little video for me that she showed me while I was trying on dresses. It was such a sweet idea and made me feel much more comfortable. I felt like everyone at Premiere genuinely wanted me to find the dress that made me feel beautiful and made me feel like myself. Premiere was also kind enough to steam my dress for me the week of my wedding so that it looked perfect on the big day.

What was your favorite moment of your wedding?

My favorite moment was our private last dance. At the end of the reception, our DJ asked all of our guests to go outside and grab a sparkler. My husband and I then got to have one last dance, just the two of us. When we were done, we walked out of the winery to our friends and family lighting our way with sparklers.
