It's safe to say this one is close to our hearts. Leif is Laura's eldest son and to say that helping plan a wedding that happened just at the beginning of the lock downs was a challenge is an understatement. But working through their shifting circumstances has also given us unique insight into the challenges that have faced so many of our brides. In the end, Rebecca and Leif's wedding was truly special and Leif will you tell you that it ended up feeling even more like them and better than he could've imagined. And with the incredible plans that had been in place that had to change that's really saying something. But let's hear it from Rebecca's point of view.
Tell us about the proposal!
He proposed to me the night we went to go see Alan Jackson. I thought he was crazy for wanting to get dinner so early before the concert. I kept him waiting because I took my time getting dressed. He proposed in the car once we arrived for dinner. We listened to Livin On Love By Alan Jackson on the way there, me thinking we were getting hyped up for the concert but he was getting ready to propose. Also my engagement ring was his grandmother’s engagement ring that she gifted to him.
Where did you get married?
We had both decided we wanted a barn wedding from the very beginning. Both coming from a long line of farming families we wanted that to be part of our wedding day. We ended up picking The Fields Reserve. It was the first of place we looked at and booked on the spot because of how much we liked not only the venue but the owners! Then, unfortunately Covid hit a week before my wedding. The owners of Fields were awesome. They gave us multiple options but we wanted to get married still as planned so we sadly didn’t end up getting married there. As the number of people allowed in a gathering dwindled down to only 10 people we ultimately ended up getting married at my husbands family farm inside the heated shop. Looking back we wouldn’t change a thing.
What is one thing you wish you knew when planning your wedding?
The day goes by so fast, have fun during the planning process, don’t let it get too stressful!
What advice would you give brides?
Becoming part of the Facebook groups was helpful when looking for advice/questions. Remember it’s your day! Don’t worry about the opinion of others!
What was your experience like at Premiere Couture?
My experience was amazing at Premiere Couture. They don’t make you feel like you are just another bride through the door. They work as a team and give you a once in a lifetime day of feeling like a princess.
What was your favorite moment of your wedding?
Seeing my husband’s face as I walked down the aisle.
